The purpose of the blue-ribbon Commission on Local Government Reform (hereafter The Commission) is to develop recommendations to reform and restructure local government in Indiana in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations and reduce its costs to Hoosier taxpayers.
The Indiana Commission on Local Government Reform was charged by Governor Daniels to provide recommendations for a leaner local government structure. Operating under the leadership of its chairs, former Governor Joseph E. Kernan and Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard, and with the assistance of the Indiana University Center for Urban Policy and the Environment, the Commission released its report on Tuesday, December 11, 2007.
The report is available for your review below. We invite you to access the materials posted throughout the website that were collected as we did our work. Also, check out the Updates/News page for any more recent information.
